Tidy Numbers

My learning intention:use a broad range of mental strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems-tidy numbers

Hello and welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to share with you my learning about tidy numbers. When you say it like that, it sounds like I'm in year 3. So lets say it like this: Rounding and compensating using tidy numbers. We had to create a screencastify about what we learnt and show an example followed by a blog. Here is my screencastify.

Thank you for reading and watching my screencastify. I hope you learned something new!

My toucan poster

My learning intention:identify key words which when combined with prior knowledge, will help with understanding.

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog! Today I am sharing with you about my toucan learning. I hope you enjoy it and learn something new.
For our reading we read an article about the toucan. We had to create a poster about the key words and points in the story. Here is the link to my poster. Toucan poster

Did you know that a Toucans beak is not heavy, instead hollow and light?

Whanau tasks Paper Airoplane challenge

Today for whanau tasks Quinn, George and I did a paper airoplane challenge. We each made a paper airoplane and then decorated it and gave it a name. My airoplane was called the stinging bee, Quinn had the golden plane star, and George had the red star. ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET, GO! We flew our planes and they went for me, down the whole drive, Quinn, 2 metres from her, and George halfway down the drive. The end results were, I won the furtherest challenge, Quinn won the  best trick challenge ( for doing a flip after it started flying ), and George won the best decorated challenge.

I drew a dog! I played soccer! I bounced on the trampoline!

Hello and welcome back to my blog, today I drew a dog!

Welcome back to my blog. It is Friday, the day we get to choose what we do. My mum made a list of things we had to do today. First was reading until morning tea. Then we drew a dog. We followed 4 simple steps and drew a wonderful dog each! Here is my dog:
The next thing we did was sport. We walked down the street to the park and played a fun game of soccer. I was my brother Liam and I, vs Quinn and George. The final score was, 7:5 to my team!
Next we bounced on the trampoline because we still had some sport time left. This afternoon we will be doing independant work, te reo and whanau tasks.

Thank you for reading about my Friday Fun Day!

Whats in the blog?

For our math lesson day one of online learning we learnt what probabilty is. Or for me and some others, more about what it is. We had to play a game with the people in our bubble called 'whats in the bag'. How you play is you put six buttons or counters in a bag or container you can't see into. there needs to be two colors of buttons/counters in the bag. So there might be 3 green and three blue, 5 yellow and 1 green, etc.You tell the person guessing the two colors and they pull a button/counter out of the bag then on a telly chart put a mark under the color they pulled out. They keep pulling them in and out until they think they can guess how many of each color is in there. You can play as many times as you like.
I played with my sister Quinn because she also had to do that task. Here is our score:

Horses are Herbivores

On my first day of online learning our task was to create a screencastify explaining the most important part of our information report. The information report is about a year one and two's favourite animal. My little buddy was Jessica. Her favourite animal was a horse. My screencastify was explaining that a horse is a herbivore and it eats grass and plants. Here is my screencastify:Screencastify

Thank you for reading and watching. 👍👍👍👍

Anzac biscuts!

Hello and welcome back to my blog. I am going to share with you today about the anzac biscuts I made while in lock down. I will tell you how I made them too so that you can try and make them!

The first thing:
You will need:
1/2 cup standard flour
1/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup finely desiccated coconut
3/4 cup rolled oats
50g butter
1 tbsp golden syrup
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp boiling water

Next we had to preheat the oven to 180c and line a baking tray with baking paper. Then we had to mix all dry ingrediants but the baking soda in a bowl. After that, we had to melt the butter and syrup in a pot on the oven. Step 4 was to dissolve the baking soda and boiling water together. Then we mix the wet ingrediants and stir. Lastly, we had to  add all the ingrediants together and mix until chunky. Then with clean hands, we rolled them in to balls on the tray and flattened them with a fork.
After they were all ready, we put them in the oven for fiveteen minutes. We put them on a cooling rack and waited five minutes until they were cool. They were delicous!
