Elsha's fantastic blog about writing
This Term for Silent writing, we made an S.U.W (Silent uninterrupted writing) Doc. In this Doc, we would write the date of the day we started the story, then write a random story about something. The date I started mine, was 13.2.19. My title was, A Magical Holiday. The main characters in my story were, Queen, King, Sophie, Cupcake, Sprinkles, and the Trolls. Here is a summery of my story.
Sophie was on a walk, and she saw a sparkle. Behind a bush, were the sparkle was, stood 7 fairies! The fairies took Sophie to fairyland and there, told her she was needed in fairy land. Sophie got given a necklace, that casts spells, and helps the fairies in fairy land to lock up the trolls that are destroying fairyland!
Here is a link to my full story

Before you click the link, do you think Sophie will save fairyland? Or do you think she will ruin fairyland?

Elsha's Chilly Winter Sports season
For Winter Sport this year I played Netball. My team was a group of 7 girls and one boy. They were, Cory, Me, Megan, Sophie D, Caiomhe, Santara, Lara and Ariella. We played around 10 games and had good success and sometimes bad luck. My coach was Miss Parker, and I enjoyed having her as our coach this season. My favourite part of playing netball was having fun, and sometimes when I played a good game. At times I got a bit hurt but I always got back up and played even better then at first. It sometimes seems that getting hurt makes you stronger, as everyone always comes back strong after falling over. Whenever we lost I didn't mind because I always had fun and enjoyed the game.
The things I love about my teammates were, I love how they are always playing fair and making great passes and scoring awesome goals. They always had fun when we lost, just the same as me.
I have improved my defence, and my teamwork and sportsmanship. And I have loved the way we play as a team.
If you were to play Winter sport, what sport would you choose if you had the options of, Netball, Soccer, Tackle rugby, or Hockey?

Innovation! We did some cool challenges this term...
This term in PBL ( Project based learning ) our question was: How Can Innovation Improve Our Lives?
So to start, we looked up what innovation was. Dakota and I made a slide to describe what innovation is, plus we added some cool facts about people who used innovation to help us with our daily lives. Like Thomas Edison who invented the light bulb. Or Karl Benz who invented the car. Click here to find out more So that we could learn more about innovation, we got given three challenges to do. Our first was to invent a airoplane that could fly, out of straws, paper, and tape. I made mine with Lara and Dakota. Ours came 3rd with 4 points. It had straws for the body and the wings, and paper to make the point at the top and the cover around the wings. And we used the tape to attach everything.
Our next challenge was to create something that will make a toy car move from one end of the table to the other, without touching the car physicly. We could only use paper, straws, one balloon, and tape. We came last with 6 points. Because we were slow at getting the car to move across the table. Ours was a straw attached to tho hole of the balloon, and attached that to the car. When we blew through the balloon, and let go, the power at the back of the balloon, would push the car forward. But it took forever to blow it up far enough to get it accross.
What sort of innovation will improve your life?

How I learned that I can turn Peanut butter into DIAMONDS!
How I learned that I can turn Peanut Butter into DIAMONDS!
This week my reading group read this article: Can you turn Peanut Butter into diamonds. Before I start, I want to ask you a question:
Do you think that you could actually turn peanut butter into diamonds?
At first I thought, No. This can't be possible. But after reading the article I was amazed! To see that it was really true! It said, that they are created with peanut butter by heating a piece of coal, coating the coal with peanut butter, and leaving it in a bowl of ice through the night. To me it was a real surprise that it was even possible. Because Peanut Butter, it is just nutty, brown, food, and sticky. The next part of the article said that Scientist Dan Frost realized that Peanut Butter contained one of the main ingredients for diamonds, carbon. It said that all organic matter on Earth contains carbon. Earlier on in the article it said that some people claim that diamonds can be made from household items! I wondered if that meant my couch or TV can make diamonds?!!
Do you think that you could make Diamonds of Household items? Or Peanut Butter?

My learning about Polar Ice Caps
My learning about Polar Ice Caps
This term we have been learning about how we can use our voice to help the environment. In reading we are reading articles about ways the environment is getting worse, and how we can help it. So far we have read about, Climate change, Wind farms, Carbon foot, Hybrids, and Going green.
This week, we read about What Polar ice caps are. We read that they are melting and that the animals homes are getting destroyed because of that. It made me feel really sad because our lives don't have any more value then their's. And I know that I wouldn't like it if I lost my family because of humans.
These are the new thing I have learned about Polar Ice Caps,
- When temperatures rise, the Polar ice caps are starting to melt and break apart.
- Satellite photos show that 9 percent of the of the Polar ice caps are shrinking every 10 years
- Some communities have begun to use renewable resources, such as solar energy (from the Sun) and wind power.
Can you do anything to help save the environment? Because there is no other place to go to.

Lara puts her hand up and says," Elsha! " Wahoo! I am player of the day! What a great game of netball! But... now we have to walk in the rain all the way back to the bus for 10 minutes😥.

Elsha's Fantastic Cross-Country run
On Thursday 2nd May 2019, St Francis of Assisi school walked down to Walter Park for Cross-Country. When we arrived at the park, we were told to sit down on tarps and wait for our turn to run. I am year 5, and the year 5,6 had to run last. So I would have to wait for 2 hours, and then do a big run!
Me, Amelia, Lily, Jasmine, and Claudia sat in one circle together. We were drawing, reading, and telling jokes to each other for an hour, and then got up to have a run around for half an hour. Then for the next half an hour we were cheering on siblings and younger friends.
It was the year 5 boys before us, we cheered them on from the sideline. Once they had done most of their run, we started.
¨On your marks, get set, GO!¨ said Miss Hansen. I started to jog my first lap. At first I jogged too fast, so I slowed down. But I didn't want to stop for the whole run. I kept running, and running, and running. Until I completed a whole lap of running without stopping.
I again started to run my second lap. I had slowed down a lot more now. Now I thought I needed to stop. I kept on running through stitch, telling myself I could do it. I kept running until I had run half my second lap. Then when I got to the playground... I had to stop. I stopped for 5 seconds just to catch my breath again. Then when I had started to run again, it was time to sprint!
I sprinted just at the last corner like my Mum had told me, and got seventh place. Then I sat back down on the tarp, very tiered. My Mum came and hugged me! I did it!

When you run Cross - Country, what place do you think you will come?
And do you think you can run the whole way without stopping, or not?
