Elsha's Fantastic Cross-Country run

On Thursday 2nd May 2019, St Francis of Assisi school walked down to Walter Park for Cross-Country. When we arrived at the park, we were told to sit down on tarps and wait for our turn to run. I am year 5, and the year 5,6 had to run last. So I would have to wait for 2 hours, and then do a big run!
Me, Amelia, Lily, Jasmine, and Claudia sat in one circle together. We were drawing, reading, and telling jokes to each other for an hour, and then got up to have a run around for half an hour. Then for the next half an hour we were cheering on siblings and younger friends.
It was the year 5 boys before us, we cheered them on from the sideline. Once they had done most of their run, we started.

¨On your marks, get set, GO!¨ said Miss Hansen. I started to jog my first lap. At first I jogged too fast, so I slowed down. But I didn't want to stop for the whole run. I kept running, and running, and running. Until I completed a whole lap of running without stopping.

I again started to run my second lap. I had slowed down a lot more now. Now I thought I needed to stop.  I kept on running through stitch, telling myself I could do it. I kept running until I had run half my second lap. Then when I got to the playground... I had to stop. I stopped for 5 seconds just to catch my breath again. Then when I had started to run again, it was time to sprint!

I sprinted just at the last corner like my Mum had told me, and got seventh place. Then I sat back down on the tarp, very tiered. My Mum came and hugged me! I did it!

When you run Cross - Country, what place do you think you will come?

And do you think you can run the whole way without stopping, or not?
