5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables.

Kia ora, and welcome back to my blog. This blog is about the ten poems I wrote for our create week 6. We were learning about poem writing, and learnt about 4 different poem types. This included, Rhyming, Shape poem, Haiku and riddle. I chose a haiku, 10 actuually. The structure of a haiku is,

First line: 5 syllables

Second line: 7 syllables

Third line: 5 syllables.

I wrote ten of these, not all of them were my best work because it was hard to think of the words but some of them I loved. Here they are:

Thank you for reading. My question for you is, what was you favourite one of my haikus and do you think you could write one about the same thing but differently?

Jiggly Jelly Cake

Kia ora, this week in the Kaupeka Hub we have been learning about hobbies. Our goal is: use knowledge from text to combine with new ideas (own and others) to come up with new thinking. I have learnt that a hobby is something you like to do, such as a sport or another activity that brings you happiness. We were tasked to create something that showed our understanding of hobbies, or create a video teaching someone how to do your hobby. I created a video about baking. I made lots of seperate videos then combined them and edited it, maybe you could try this while you are in lockdown!

My reflection is:
Next time I might make the instructions a bit more clear; there were some times when I played and paused the video too fast and you couldn't see what I was doing.

Question: What is your hobby? You never know, you may have lots!

What kind of mindset do you have?

Kia ora welcome back to my blog. In this blog I will share about my new learning on a growth mindset. This week in Kaupeka hub we have been learning about a growth mindset and a fixed mindset. This is a growth mindset and fixed mindset.

Now that you know what a growth and fixed mindset is, I am going to share what I have created. I have created a poster on J.K Rowling to show what kind of mindset she has.

I chose to use google drawings for a poster because it clearly explains what I have learned and is really simple.

Thank you for reading my blog, what kind of mindset do you have? Maybe both?

Peace Week

This Week in Kaupeka hub we have been working on inner peace. We were tasked to create something that showed others what inner peace was to us and what the four walls of peace were. Here is mine:

I also create a drawing to show some more about peace.

Students should be PAID for what they do at school.

Kia ora, welcome back to my blog. In this blog I will be sharing all about why I think students should be paid for certain things at school. This week we were tasked to write a persuasive text about any topic from the following:

I chose Students should be paid to go to school, but that seemed a little unreasonable to me so I changed it up to make it certain things. Here is my text:

Why students should get paid for certain things at school

I strongly believe that students should be paid to do certain things at school. It is important that students will be acknowledged in their classroom for what they do at school, but is acknowledgement enough? Some children would like more than acknowledgement, like an award or badge. I will share with you my opinion on why students should be paid money.

Firstly, some of the activities the students do is something an adult might get paid for. For example, a band. Adults get paid to perform on stage with their musical instruments, so why not children? We can rock it like adults can’t we?! While our music choice might not be the same, our skills and perfection may be the same. So I just don’t understand why we don’t get paid? And things like Kapa Haka, people have to pay to get in so they can watch, but their money doesn’t go to the people they pay to watch! We will put in just as much effort and time to do this as an adult, but still no pay!

Secondly, the money doesn’t have to be much! It would be just a small amount to give us appreciation for what we have done. And maybe a certificate to make the appreciation last. We could then save up the money all together and do something for the whole school or club, to help make it be more known to others. And maybe the school could save up for another event like a performance for another club or a party for the people who performed.

Lastly, the students who aren’t in the clubs will then want to join, because they know they will get paid. Wouldn’t it be great if every child was in a club? People would be making new friends, experiencing new talents and having a great time. Although it may cost a bit more money for the school or the organisation, it is all about the children, right?

To sum up my opinion, I am sure that students should be paid for some of the things that they do, my first reason because then it is fair that the people who are hard working get rewarded, and also because it could all add up to students making new friends, discovering new talents and having lots of fun.

Thank you for reading my blog. What is your opinion on my topic?

Another knowledge

This week in kaupeka we were tasked to another knowledge test with another goal. The goal I chose was a L4 goal and it was: Say the number 1 /1000, 1 /100’, 1 /10, 1, 10, before or after. I did my work in my book copying off these questions:

I then took a photo and uploaded it to this page:

Thank you for reading, maybe challenge yourslef to answer one of the question I had to do, and comment your answer!

Oh no! There's a sheep on the loose...

This week our goal is: Select from a wide range of genres when reading independently. We were tasked to create this blog and share our new learning About these articles: Blues win trans-tasman rugby title Runaway sheep on the loose in New Plymouth Should we keep pets?

Blues win trans - tasman rugby title

Title: Blues win trans - tasman rugby title

My opinion, because I don’t like the blues, is that there should be two tournaments and the winner of each tournament , the Australian tournament and New Zealand tournament and then the winners of each tournament v each other. The shapes they used were Titles, Describing words, paragraphs..

Runaway sheep on the loose in New Plymouth

Title: Runaway sheep on the loose

My opinion on the text is that they should set up a trap for the sheep to go into and then the sheep will be caught. Some of the shapes they have used a headline pun, and paragraphs.

Should we keep pets?

Title: Should We Keep pets?

My opinion is that we should keep pets so we can have company and so the dogs can be looked after and not be treated badly. Also I think that if you go away a lot then you have to leave your pet alone But I would rather have a pet with me to keep me company

My learning went great because I learned some cool new information and how to identify different genres!

Pronunciation of genres, john - rers.
